Tavolino

11 Jul

The other day I made a quick stop into my favorite mercatino usato (2nd hand shop) and found this little table on wheels.  It was brown and ugly.  And did I mention it was brown?  I hate brown.  The guy who owns the shop couldn’t believe I actually wanted to buy it.

I’ve been looking for a little table to put my computer on in the evening while I’m browsing the internet, blogging or watching downloaded episodes of Mad Men.  I’ve started getting paranoid about always having the computer sitting on my lap.  That heat must have long term bad effects on our thighs.

So I brought it home, gave it a coat of primer and then three coats of paint and called it a day (I don’t like sanding).  I’m really happy with the result and love the fact that it’s on wheels and I can push it around from couch to couch and room to room.  I kind of feel like a stewardess sometimes.
It really is amazing what a few coats of white paint can do!

    I am so envious! I’m looking for something similar yet taller to be used as bar cart. Great idea coloring it white! Are second hand stores prices decent in your area? I can’t find any here unless I go to the flea markets.

      The second hand store prices are really really cheap around here. I got this table for 15 euro. Do they have flea markets down there? Wow…another reason to come to Sicily!

        what the heck?! For 15 euros?! I am so coming down and shopping there. Like I will be there in 5-7 hours depending on traffic.

    Wow – you’re good! It looks beautiful. You must have a good vision sense..That kind of stuff is hard for me …hard to imagine what something could be if I painted it or changed it in some way. Bravo

      Anything looks good with a coat of white paint. Words to live by…

    Brown is beautiful but white is just right.

      Brown=blech

        I do like the white, but I probably would have left the brown as well. I am too lazy and too much of an imperfectionist to do a good paint job.

    Wow, what a difference! I love it and I hope you’ll enjoy it 🙂

    you know what I love best? That’s right. The two different quilts you managed to show off in the photos. You knew I was going to love those right?

      It’s actually the same quilt. I made it last year and it hides one of my stained IKEA couches.

    sorry, I know this is the 4th comment I am leaving, but if it is raining down there like it is here, at least you will have something to do. Oh wait, the kids are on holidays, you have plenty to do. Can you do a blog on your house? Like take us on a tour? And do NOT clean up beforehand, just show us the real lived-in home? Thanks, looking forward to it. Love, P

      Why don’t you come and see my house FOR REAL!? Seriously P-Bird. It’s time.

        totally time. I am seriously thinking about coming this summer, but it has to be pretty spontaneous with lio-smell’s knee operation on Wednesday and all. I am not sure I can leave him home for a few days.
