I’m sitting here recovering from a whirlwind 48 hour trip to Belgium. It’s actually amazing how much my daughters and I squeezed into our short trip: passport renewal appointment, visit to the charming city of Brugge, eating waffles and french fries, shopping in HEMA, visit to the girls’ great grandmother and a fun family birthday party with cousins. Exhausting but so much fun.
Here are a few images that are making me smile on this rainy, chilly, grey day here in Northern Italy.
I’m a sucker for colourful garlands. They just make me happy.
My daughters and their friends made this little breakfast for themselves using vegetables from our garden. They have inherited my love of making food beautiful as well as delicious.
Sharing her french fries. I’m not sure if she has a frown or a smile behind there though.
My kids are currently obsessed with archery (thanks to Hunger Games of course). We visited a local farm that offers courses and I fell in love with their arrows.
Have a great week!
Gratefully Grateful

I love bunting! And that breakfast looks wonderful!
They put so much time and effort into that little breakfast. So sweet.
Those arrows look awesome!
They were so beautiful and colourful. I know want some to decorate my house!
What gorgeous and happy photos! I love how colorful they are! I’d love to hear your thoughts sometime on the pros and cons of living abroad (and raising kids there). I sense you’d say it’s mostly pro? What’s been hard? 🙂
Hey Lauren! Just saw your comment now. Yes, there are many many pros to living abroad! New culture, new language, new food, meeting friends from around the world, travel and so many more. But there are some cons as well…it’s terribly hard to be so far from family. Are you guys thinking of moving abroad for a few years?
oooh, those arrows are beautiful! I’d grab a bunch and put them in a vase on top of my sideboard 🙂
